This massive creation by Dutch designer Tord Boontje was the first solo US exhibition of his work, and the final episode of a trilogy based on his exploration of the myths inherent in universal fairy tales. (The first, "Happy Ever After", premiered at the 2004 Salone del Mobile, and the second, "Forever", in London during 100% Design.) This new work continued his exploration of hand-crafted historical ornament, innovations in textile production, and intersections of craft and industry, mythology and narrative in contemporary design. The installation, which was designed to the dimensions of the gallery, contained a mix of one-off pieces made by his studio, prototypes for pieces which will soon be in production, and several pieces made specifically for this show. Presented by Moroso, Italy, The End is a collaboration between Boontje and Moss. Additional funding for this exhibition was provided by The Mondriaan Foundation and by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York City.
